Two awesome things came out this year with titles that followed the classic “________ in Paris” format. In fact, I’m surprised they didn’t cross over. And I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the people behind them were actually working together this whole time. Those things, and the first two things on my list of things I liked, were Woody Allen’s new film Midnight in Paris, and the Kanye West and Jay-Z song Niggas in Paris.
Here’s some pictorial representation of those two things for those who like looking at things:

Both are exceptionally well written masterpieces from artists at the top of their fields. Dare I say: both are examples of those artists’ best work. But the similarities don’t end there: even their subject matter is exactly identical. Both works involve protagonists not giving a fuck about anything because they are in fucking Paris.

FUCKING PARIS
I rest my case. Here’s what I’m thinking: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Woody Allen and Owen Wilson all had a clandestine meeting somewhere (probably Paris) a year or so ago. And it was there they decided that in 2011, they would drop a creative bomb on the world by releasing two awesome things in separate art forms capturing the beauty of not giving a fuck in Paris. And so that’s exactly what they did.
I just wish that the song would’ve been in the movie. That would’ve been awesome. But for now, all we have is this.
